Some popular tourist destinations in Sri Lanka include Colombo, the capital city, and Kandy, a city located in the central hills of the country. In Colombo, you can visit landmarks such as the Gangaramaya Temple and the Independence Memorial Hall, as well as explore the city’s many markets and museums. Kandy is known for its beautiful lake and the Temple of the Tooth, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Sri Lanka is also home to many national parks, such as Yala National Park and Udawalawe National Park, where you can see a wide range of wildlife such as elephants, leopards, and birds. The climate in Sri Lanka is tropical, with high humidity and temperatures ranging from 26 to 33 degrees Celsius (79 to 91 degrees Fahrenheit) throughout the year.
Itinerary
Arrive in Colombo, Sri Lanka’s capital city, and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, take a city tour of Colombo, including visits to popular attractions such as Gangaramaya Temple, the National Museum, and Independence Square.
Drive to the Cultural Triangle and visit the ancient city of Anuradhapura, an UNESCO World Heritage site. Explore the ruins of the ancient city, including the impressive Ruwanwelisaya Stupa and the Brazen Palace.
Continue your journey to the city of Polonnaruwa, another ancient city and UNESCO World Heritage site. Visit the ruins of the ancient city, including the Gal Vihara, a complex of four rock temples.
Drive to the hill country and visit the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy, a revered temple that houses a tooth of the Buddha. In the evening, attend a traditional cultural show in Kandy.
