Itinerary
Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel. Briefing and preparation for the Rara trek. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.
We take an early flight to Nepalgunj first. Nepalgunj is a steaming hot in summer and too cold in winter city located in South Western Nepal, in the lowlands of Terai. Indian is just 8 km away from Nepalgunj. Cycle rickshaw, electic rickshaw and horse carts are the main means of transportation. Bageswari temple is one of Nepal’s most important Hindu temples and is worth to visit. Overnight at hotel, breakfast included.
The trip just takes thirty minutes to get to Jumla airport, but we think that’s too little given how beautiful the scenery is there. After interacting with the hiking team upon arrival in Jumla, we depart from the Jumla Valley in the direction of the north after lunch. A little Micha town with a walled enclosure and several Buddhist stupas is one that we walk through. These stupas are said to have been built in honor of significant local nobles in the late 15th century. To get to ChalaChaur, we must then travel along a path that is paved with rocks. Spend the night in a tent camp. Included are breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Chala Chaur’s steep stones are the first obstacles on today’s route. We pass through birch, pine, and grassy pass as we ascend. From this pass, we can see Kanjiroba’s twin peaks in the east, which tower above the surrounding countryside. Then, after descending through luxuriant forests, we arrive at a suitable campsite in a meadow close to some shepherd’s huts for an overnight stay. Spend the night in a tent camp. Included are breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
The JaljalaKhola serves as our starting point as we go through pine forests and terraced fields. We pass by the Kanaksundari Temple, a significant structure built 300 years ago, on the way. For Hindus, the temple has great religious importance. The road continues to curve around the main river, which we cross on a substantial plank bridge. The bridge serves as a reminder of how people once crossed the river. Finally, we enter the village of Sinja by descending. On the west bank of the Lah Gad River, also known as the SinjaKhola, lies the village of Sinja, which is situated on a small alluvial plain. The ancient capital of the Malla monarchs was Sinja. The history of the Malla dynasty is predicted by the stones that line the route. And the Singa valley is where the Khas language, which eventually developed into Nepali, a national language of Nepal, began. We resume our trek after lunch. We eventually arrive in the town of Botan after passing through a breathtaking canyon on the way. Spend the night in a tent camp. Included are breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Today, we divert from the SinjaKhola track and continue down the GhattaKhola trail, which features the same gorgeous views. The beautiful valley and terraced farmland are reached up the scenic route. On the way, we pass by a police station and a crude flour mill called “Ghatta.” We soon approach the Rara National Park, which is a stunning area. The Rara National Park’s homes are distinctive and teeming with environmental diversity. We may spend thirty minutes admiring the park’s splendor before traveling to Gorosingha for the night. Spend the night in a tent camp. Included are breakfast, lunch, and supper.
We climb to the Ghurchi Mara ridge from Gorosingha in the morning (3710m). It takes around an hour and a half. When we reach the ridge’s summit, we are treated to a wonderful panoramic view of the beauty and allure of the undiscovered area to the north. Rara Lake may be seen to the northeast as the route lowers. Before crossing the KhatyarKhola, the trail continues through forests of birch, bamboo, and other trees. The largest lake in Nepal, Rara Lake, is reached when we continue upstream along the river. When we take in the beauty of the surroundings, our hearts are filled with great joy. Spend the night in a tent camp. Included are breakfast, lunch, and supper.
We leave the lovely Rara Lake Jhyari. The route continues by the JhyariKhola and through terraced fields. The area offers a stunning panoramic view of snow-capped mountain peaks and an exotic charisma of nature. Spend the night in a tent camp. Included are breakfast, lunch, and supper.
Today, we depart from DhauligarKhola. Our walking trail travels across countryside before entering the settlement of Pina as it blurs from our line of sight. There are hotels and a police station there. When we finally reach the Ghurchi Lagna Pass, a steep slope leads us into the village of Chautha, where we make our overnight stop. Along the way, we pass several small Chortens, pastures that resemble alpine meadows, walnut groves, and a narrow valley. Spend the night in a tent camp. Included are breakfast, lunch, and supper.
We proceed north along the SinjaKhola, passing the hotel and medical facility in Kabra. Kabra is the location of Silajit, a vital medicinal mineral thought to have a wide range of therapeutic applications. Before ascending to the Tharamara meadow, where we set up camp, the path then goes via the settlements of Bumra and Nyawre. Spend the night in a tent camp. Included are breakfast, lunch, and supper.
The last day of our adventure is today. Then, we travel via different modes of transportation. We climb higher before descending to Jumla. On our way to the Khali Lagna and DanpheLekh, we pass tall birch trees. The most breathtaking views of the mountain ridges to the south and Jumla below can be seen from the ridge’s summit. We move carefully and arrive at the first night’s campsite because the route is a little challenging. We take the same path back to Jumla from the point. We get to Jumla at midday.
