Itinerary

Arrive at Lhasa, the regional cultural, political, and economic hub and capital of Tibet. Register at your accommodation and get used to the high altitude. Visit the famous Potala Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in the evening to get a view of the Dalai Lama’s former home.

Visit the Jokhang Temple, one of the holiest temples in Tibetan Buddhism, and the busy Barkhor Street, a well-liked destination for shopping for Tibetan trinkets and souvenirs. Visit the Drepung Monastery in the afternoon, one of Tibet’s biggest monasteries that formerly housed 10,000 monks.

The Panchen Lama, one of the most senior lamas in Tibetan Buddhism, has his customary residence at the Tashilhunpo Monastery, which is located in Shigatse, the second-largest city in Tibet. Explore the majestic New Palace and the impressive monastery complex.

Visit the little town of Gyantse, which is renowned for its illustrious past and diverse culture. Visit the Pelkor Chode Monastery, one of Tibet’s best-preserved monasteries, and the GyantseKumbum, a singular chorten (stupa) with nine storeys and countless chapels. Drive back to Shigatse for the night in the evening.

 

Visit the Sera Monastery on the way back to Lhasa, one of Tibet’s biggest and most significant monasteries. Explore the Buddhist artwork, the stunning debate courtyard, and the monastery complex. Transfer to the airport in preparation for your journey.
